Thema: Cross-layer approaches
Abstract:
Ad-hoc networks are highly dynamic in nature. Their topology is constantly changing due to mobility, the medium is shared and error prone, bandwidth is low and energy is limited as devices are most likely battery-driven. To overcome the problems in such dynamic environments cross-layer approaches are a promising new approach. The strict layered architectures of today's communication networks seem to be ill-suited for ad-hoc networks as they are not flexible enough and are unable to adapt to the dynamics of the ad-hoc environments.
My research is focused on this new cross-layer paradigm and on an efficient architecture which preserves the benefits of a layered approach and also incorporates the flexibility of cross-layer optimizations.
